In Loving Memory of Alan Harris
Devoted Husband • Loving Father • Passionate Teacher • Dedicated Coach
On September 6, 2025, our NJC family and the Carteret community lost an extraordinary man far too soon. Alan Harris passed away suddenly after suffering a massive stroke, leaving behind his wife, Holly, and their three young sons — Henry (9), James (6), and Oliver (4). His loss is profound, and the impact he made during his lifetime will never be forgotten.
A Life of Dedication
Alan lived every day with purpose, pouring his heart into his family, students, and players. A full-time history teacher at Carteret Junior High School, Alan inspired countless young people with his passion for learning and his ability to connect with others. After long days in the classroom, he continued his calling on the soccer field, coaching tirelessly — often late into the evenings and weekends. From the very beginning of NJC, Alan was with us, shaping not just athletes but people, leaving an indelible mark on our community.
A Loving Husband and Father
At home, Alan’s greatest joy was being a husband and father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family — whether playing backyard soccer with Henry, watching movies and sharing popcorn with James, or snuggling with Oliver to read books and laugh together. He also dedicated time to Cub Scouts Pack 66, cheering his boys on at events like the Pinewood Derby and helping them earn their badges. Every moment with his family was treasured, and his love filled their home with warmth and laughter.
A Legacy of Impact
Alan’s energy, kindness, and selflessness touched everyone who knew him. As a teacher, coach, husband, father, and friend, he gave everything he had to the people he loved. His sudden passing is a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile life can be, but also of the incredible legacy he leaves behind — one built on care, commitment, and compassion.
Supporting the Harris Family
Alan’s passing has left Holly and the boys with an unimaginable void, along with emotional and financial burdens. To help provide stability for them during this incredibly difficult time, a GoFundMe has been created. Every donation, share, and prayer will make a difference.
